* Field PC Touch Screen Issues
Posted by on 07 December 2011 05:28 PM

1. Introduction

If your touch screen is no longer functional on your field PC. This can occur for various reasons, firstly this can occur when the screen is damaged or it can also occur if dirt has entered into the gap between the screen and the field PC plastic casing.

2. Trying to solve this problem

  • Firstly please remove the battery from the field PC for 30 seconds and then reinsert the battery and attempt to turn the field PC on.

  • If removing the battery has not solved the problem please inspect the gap between the field PC and the plastic casing for any dirt build up. If dirt build up is present you can gently try to remove this build up with a fine brush or tooth brush.  If this does not work and you believe that the issue is caused due to dirt build up the field PC can be returned to Soil Instruments who can clean the field PC more effectively to try and resolve the issue.

Warning: Be sure to use a gentle sweeping action along the length of the screen, attempting to flick the dirt out and away from the gap rather than pushing the dirt further in.

  • If the above does not allow the screen to function and you have RPP and your In-Port database files that you require to get information from or copy to your computer, a software program is available which allows control of the field PC through the computer. Please download the software from the following link:
http://www1.soil.co.uk/downloads/MyMobile123.zip
  • Please install the software on a computer which has successfully been connected to the field PC previously.  Once you have installed the software please connect your field PC to your computer, turn it on and open My Mobiler. You will then be able to navigate around your field PC using your computer to any files you require.

Tip: We recommend that the software is installed within the Program Files folder and not the default desktop location.

If you require further information on processes such as how to copy your In-Port database to your computer, articles can be found in the Inclination section and then navigating to your field PCs section.

If you have any queries about the above information, please submit a ticket through the support site or call Soil Instruments on +44 01825 765044 for advice.
